Nathan Lyon says his calf injury has left him low, but nothing would stop him helping further Australia’s Ashes cause in whatever way he could, with a courageous batting effort on day four

Nathan is so sweet
To be honest this is a great opportunity to move on. Find someone younger and great potential. For Gazza its time
Total warrior
A player who is not even a batsman hobbles to the crease in intense pain to lurch and stagger and grimace and HOP to help his uninjured colleague add 15 runs for the last wicket – 15 runs which were ALMOST needed, as the game later developed. And yet, more even than the 15 runs, was the message sent to the opposition – "we take this utterly seriously". On the other side of the equation, Lyon would have known that his tour was over so, in the immediate sense "making it worse" didn't matter from a team perspective. If, however, he has drastically extended his rehabilitation period by these heroics, then he may have finished his Test Career. Murphy is a fine young bowler. Agar a little less reliable but also a serious batsman. Whomever they go for is likely to have a decent run in the side, and time enough to state a case to be included permanently. No matter – the team comes first. As it always should. Well batted, Nathan – well batted indeed!
Great attitude 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'll do it again tomorrow 👏👏

Come on Aussies! Let's win The Ashes!
M 🦘🏏😎
This is the difference between an Australian player and an English player an English player I doubt would do this would even go out there in fact Ollie Pope he sat in the change room for 2 days because his shoulder was a little bit sore.weak as😅
Take care Gaz. You have served the nation. Will miss your bowling today on the rough.
From an Indian but forever an Aussie fan
4 short of 500 tests wickets too which is devo not just for him but us Aussie's. He limped his way to 400 test wickets but then hurried on quickly to 496. Lets hope that with this injury that it doesn't force him into retirement. We know how fit Gaz is & he's a typical Aussie battler that is so synonymous with all of us Aussie's of all walks of life.
Big moment for lyon
