The US can even send Biden but it won't ease tension between China and the US. The US have to show concrete actions such as removing all the trade sanctions, removing the blockade on chips and Chinese entities, removing the naval fleet and submarines from SCS, removing all military bases and missiles from Guam, Philippines, SK, Japan . Also not to interfere with the unification with Taiwan and the retaking the sovereign of the SCS. Do all these and there's a chance China will ease tension with or even help the US.

When Blinken was trying to mend the China-US ties, Biden said Xi Jinping is a dictator. Now, when Yellen is trying to do the same thing, Biden is saying that he has warned Xi Jinping to "be careful" because China depends on Western investments. China is just wasting four days' time with Yellen. It should be more assertive and just tell her to go back home and first match words to actions before any dialogue can occur.
