While other interviewers have focused on the potential harm to civilians of the cluster munitions, Martha was able to draw Kirby out on the fact that production of 155mm shells cannot supply the battlefield use. Better we know this now than before we get into a broader conflict anywhere, including with Russia. 👍
Kirby still talks about freedom and democracy in Ukraine. Zelensky has shut down all of the opposition political parties, the opposition news media, and anyone who voices doubt about the war is subject to imprisonment. That sounds like a dictatorship to me.
I don't mean to be indelicate, but I've been viewing the after action videos of the battlefields provided by Jacob Dreizin. The Ukrainian dead are shown in large number, all with heavy US gear on. Helmets, boots, backpacks, etc. How are the bodies and the gear disposed of, and how quickly? If the fatalities are in the hundreds nearly every day, are we talking mass burials of Ukrainian soldiers, fully laden with their gear? There cannot be convoys of corpses going west into Ukraine with the level of fighting that is going on. The odor and the flies, etc., from the battlefields must be unimaginable, especially with this being summer.
