A 17-year-old Canadian vandalized the Toshodaiji Kondo temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Japan, by carving his name into a pillar at the ancient temple. The name “Julian” can be seen carved into the pillar as well as the letter “J”. The Canadian teen allegedly used his fingernails to carve the letters.

Well the to be fair i think the monks of that temple should be allowed to carve their names into that canadian pos .
Japan should punish this vandal the same way they do to thieves
Not surprising, there was a guy in Rome who carved his and his girlfriend's name on the colosseum not too long ago, and the Italian government was so angry they tracked him down in a different city and now he has to spend 5 years in prison I believe
I always love reading the comments on videos like this. The seriousness of a crime needed to get online weirdos to call for the death penalty is evidently comically low
American behavior.
Can this be fixed? I usually went to Poconos and other mountains and so many people write or scar their names and their bf or gf as a pair and hearts on trees, tables or anything natural on the mountains all the time
I say this kid needs to be sent to the Gallows😤😤😤 and where was his mother🤔🤔🤔 he's under 18 so she's responsible too🤗🤗🤗
People should respect cultural heritage sites to prevent recent vandalism at Colosseum and now at Japanese holy temple.
Carve his own name on his forehead
Westerners… Bored to destruct their country, they need to do it overseas….
he should come back & sand it off & he should have five years in prison
Surprised he carved his whole name before getting caught.
Take his ears
I am a Japanese living in the States. It saddens and angers me so much, especially since I know what this temple means to us Japanese and Buddhists. Such a sense of entitlement to vandalize someone else's property in someone else's country! I want to scratch my name on his forehead with my fingernail.
Maybe Japan would close her doors to the outside again until the world learn how to respect others, hence, the selves.
It won't matter at the day of the Lord 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
Sheer disrespect
To the Japanese people, as a Canadian, I apologize 😞… 🙇🏻♂️ He should be punished and make restitution as possible
They should use a wood sander on the beams and make them look new again. They will look old again in 5 years anyways😂 I think that would be a good job for the dude who wrote his name.
It wasn't carved. It was scratched in with his fingernail. How this is world news I'll never know
He did it with his fingernail. Get some 800 grit sandpaper then rub dirt on it to hide the sanding mark. It would take 5 minutes. But world news?!?
