  1. The imperial forces of Japan was a tough foe that never quits. The U.S could of demonstrated the power off Japan coast and give them a final warning. But who knows.

  2. Why couldn’t they have exploded the a bomb in the ocean first to warn them of what we had? Or at least why could they have not dropped it on a military target?

  3. The bomb saved millions of lives.

  4. This film is straight up propaganda. The only reason the Japs gave in, was the USSR. The only reason why the "bomb" was dropped, was to make the USSR fear the wrath of the "bomb".

  5. THE DEVIL'S DEMONS ,,,, These are not Men of Peace,,, Smoke and Mirrors,,

  6. WEAPONS of MASS EXTINCTION will consume US All,,, BE WARNED,, WW3 IS NEVER FAR. IN FACT,,,,,,

  7. Would the U.S. have dropped that bomb on Germany, if the war in Europe wasn't favoring the U.S.😳

    👀

  8. What strikes me most is the despite the debate about whether or not the bomb should be dropped without warning, or whether a "warning bomb" should be fired in a remote area, there's no demonising or demagoging, nor questioning the patriotism or desire to end the war of any of these individuals.

  9. just another movie to distract attention from the real issue with nuclear – UAPs

  10. U.S. History….whew!😳

    NoWonderTheyDon'tWantNoOneToTalkAboutIt👀

  11. Hair dye and bouffant hair look so awful and fake, cause hair loss and men to look much older.

  12. What would you rather have had, 70k deaths by bomb…or 250k plus deaths through a long, protracted ground war?….

  13. God help us and may the force be with us all.❤

  14. And no one thought they should advise the president to stop hostilities immediately? That we all take 10!?

It seems like the MI complex took it upon them to test out a weapon on innocents.

I feel ashamed as an American that this happened- not once but twice.

We have the nerve to ask other countries to be peaceful while we wage war every where.

  15. I seen a documentary where Truman was giddy about having the bomb when speaking with Stalin. I think truman is the blame for Russia having the bomb years later. He speaks as if he’s some prophet of God. So it goes he’s talking to stalin saying “ we have something the world has never seen before a super weapon” stuff of that nature which then right after that stalin set in plan a motion to get the bomb for russia. But then theres also the fact communism was accepted and followed in America in those days i seen what look like 100 k people marching for communism. So there’s no telling who was working for Russia and working on the bomb or just close to people who worked on the bomb. How does russia have that tech so fast?
On another note thats why putin is putin and stalin is Stalin. Putin will never do something that big. Getting that bomb put Russia in the ball game and now they’re passing the tech along to others. Along with the guy from Pakistan khan.

  16. What a way to flex lol

  17. It's not that the world is going to come to an end by nuclear fire it's United States that's going to come to the end because everybody's going to point him over here since we've been the bully of the world

  18. They were paid to make this to promote the movie. The movie I'm seeing this weekend. Oh yeah!

  19. This documentary serious in nature was for an audience that was willing to listen to and comprehend important questions and matters for more than an hour without any flash, music, questions on the screen or entertaining feature to cloy for their attention. The audience didn’t need gimmicks.

  20. Great documentary by Chet Huntley and team, but name titles would have helped. What wasn’t made sufficiently clear in the documentary is why the Americans were compelled to think they needed to invade and therefore lose so many lives.

  21. Why is this being shown now? especially with the controversy surrounding the movie. My conspiracy side says someone is trying to cover there tracks.

  22. An awesome documentary! Thanks for posting this.Time is running out for humanity unless they can find another way or another Robert J Oppenheimer! The only adult in the room

  23. This sounds like a great upload for British Pathe.

  24. Heck yes, so compelling. Thanks for sharing. I like that it was from the '60's.

  25. I read Truman's "The Decision To Drop The Bomb," fanatics and fascist followers of leaders desperate to lead those desperate to follow, are the problem. They still are in many countries. That type always becomes the gravest danger to their own country.

  26. Yet we’re back at it again

  27. They have upteen thousand times over different ways to destroy this beautiful earth and NOT ONE way to save this Earth!!

  28. The color animated bug is atrocious and does not fit the subject matter at all. Re-upload without the bug.

  29. I have to say very sadly, after Leningrad, Stalingrad, Kursk, Warsaw, Budapest, Dresden and Berlin and after the concentration camps 100.000 human beings are not too many. The scientists and military leaders had known the Manhattan Project's goal, so it would have been impossible not to use the weapon when had the slightest reason to use it. The use of nuclear weapons broke the backbone of Japan's military leadership but didn't deter the Soviet aims. Now, there are numerous powers with different A-rockets and bombs, and we can say, all the same, who had applied it first. Theoretically, it had not been a war crime to drop the bombs on Japan. The question is, would it be a war crime to use tactical nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
For me, the documentary on the use of nuclear weapons at the end of WW II. was mainly fascinating because of the political and military reasoning. How do the Russians think before they decide and how are they reacting when Ukraine get more and more influential weapons? Are they going to answer like the Japanese and accept a victorious Ukraine or not? If not, they will use tactical nuclear weapons. In this war, and I can't see a win-win solution in the near future… this is the problem and I think this is the problem of NATO/USA. Some kinds of nuclear weapons – as the Chornobyl catastrophe proved, are not too dangerous for Europe if the winds blow from West to East but what about the Scandinavian and Baltic countries? What NATO or the USA will think if the Scandinavian and Baltic countries get an indirect attack by heavier radiation? (My English is far from perfect, sorry.)

  30. Did someone drop the mic?

  31. One of the questions asked at the end about the race is not relevant, since no war was going in Europe at the time no point of using it there, but one would think that there were more ways to let the Japanese know about how destructive and catastrophic the bomb could be, to convince them to back off and surrender…
