  1. They should play separately, it will create rivalry among them and no of playing teams also, more competition.

  2. In 1992, Yugoslavia was broken up into several countries after the Yugoslav wars. Their national Football and other sports teams were succeeded by the countries gaining independence. Once, a powerhouse in men's football, Yugoslavia was succeeded by Serbia and Montenegro. Serbia and Montenegro played as one country in the 2006 Men's FIFA World Cup. Then those two nations split up in 2007 and had separate national football teams. Serbian men had success qualifying for the 2010, 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups while Montenegro never qualified since independence. There was huge resource disparity among the nations in some way.

The Carribean nations can afford to have separate national football teams since Football is a symmetrically timed team sport. But Cricket is an Asymmetrical team sport where one side bats and another bowls and then they alternate after an innings. Think about the resources required.

West Indies cannot afford to break up like Yugoslavia and then assume that it will do wonders for their Cricket individually. Football and Cricket are vastly different sports; there's a reason why England & Wales represents England or Ireland is represented by Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

  3. If Newzealand can punch above their weight ,with just 5 million population and a small country
    Why not carribean ???.
    I m surprised .

  4. WI cricket ruined by franchise cricket. WI test cricket status must be suspended.

  5. Excellent point. Ian Bishop

  6. Politics will not go away. As long as politics controls cricket, nothing will change. They don't even have the money to play their strongest team as those players will choose T20 leagues. So even producing someone as promising as Athanaze will be futile because once he is recognised, he will most likely not play for the West Indies and play T20.

What is the point? Something needs to change….
