College is a choice. Not our responsibility if you didnt pick a degree that could suffice. I got a CDL in one month for $5k making $50k now im 1st year. Why should i pay for your gender studies??
I'm working a full-time job while in law school to pay the tuition; these students should do the same. Instead of taking a free ride on my tax dollars.

Education should be affordable. Instead the government and institutions chose to take advantage of the working class. The citizens who want to contribute to society/economy in a positive way. Every person who took out loans got preyed upon and squeezed dry with promises of a good money and a better quality of life. That’s not what happened. People in charge got greedy. Next thing you know your paying $500 for a text book you can’t even sell back to the school (Baker College Policy circa 2007). This is simply Karma. You cannot achieve a positive reaction from a negative action. It’s impossible. In the end eventually everyone’s BILL COMES DUE!!!
Am I going to get a government bonus for being responsible and paying off my student loan? Course not so why should these people people be rewarded for failure? This is almost as bad as the government giving tax-free money during covid for people to not work and taxing the ones that were working.

I did the opposite of the people. Joined the Navy right out of high-school. Spent 6 yrs in, learned to be an aircraft mechanic on the government's dime, bought a house on th GI bill. No debt. Got a job with a major airline, made good money. It can be done people. But you have think and sacrifice. Btw I was in the navy from 76 to 82

We kept paying payments on my daughters loans. Was nice it was all principal payments, no interest. Stayed focused and just stopped doing the extras and kept focused. Got it done.

Wouldn’t students be required to pay taxes on any debt forgiveness? I believe the IRS would consider that as income.
A small business owner told me he had a hard time filling an entry level position. He said he had lots of applicants but one of the most important criteria to him was, "What did you do during the pandemic." He won't consider any person who lived off the government or someone else. He sees this as a great way to sort the slackers from the go-getters. This seems relevant here because go-getters are out doing things to get their debts paid (or just pay cash) while the slackers are waiting for a hand-out.
They could have at least kept the pause on interest to help give some relief.

The root problem was allowing our universities to morph into for profit institutions. Secondarily, telling this generation of students it's ok to take on huge debt for an education that for most won't yield a big enough difference in income to repay the debt will go down in history as another huge blunder.
