Let's be clear here – the Judge did not turn down the plea deal. The defendant's counsel did – Hunter's attorney. Why? Because the judge has an obligation to make sure the defendant understands the deal and understands if they have ongoing liability. Therefore, in order to protect the defendant, "Hunter", she asked the prosecutor if there was an ongoing investigation and possibly other charges, such as the foreign agent issue. Prosecution responded affirmatively. Defendant's counsel then killed the deal. It has been suggested by several knowledgeable sources that clearly the Justice Department and Hunter's legal team understood the deal that had been negotiated and it included the immunity clause. However, the justice department got boxed in because it had told congress that it could not answer questions about the Biden probe due to an "ongoing investigation". The justice department couldn't have it both ways – tell Congress to "stuff it" due to an "ongoing investigation" and tell the judge that the Hunter Biden investigation was complete. Come on ABC, don't make it sound like just because the judge was appointed during a Republican administration that the Judge "killed the deal".
