Another property insurer is dropping coverage in Florida. Farmers Insurance will stop writing new business and not renew its existing “Farmers-branded” automobile, home and umbrella policies in the Sunshine State, the company said Tuesday.

On Monday, Farmers sent notice of its plans to the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, which is reviewing it. Insurers must give the office 90 days’ notice if they want to discontinue writing business in Florida. “This business decision was necessary to effectively manage risk exposure,” the company said in a statement.

  9. Time for Floridians to buy gloves , boots and tools . So that when disaster hits youll be ready to rebuild your house. No contruction workers ,the legal ones will charge you an arm and your 401k and 30 smoke breaks in a day.

  14. Native Floridian. 🙋🏼‍♀️ All but 1 family member live in FL. 2 own homes on lakes. 1 owns a beach condo. ⛱ 1 owns a home inland. 1 owns a home on a creek. 1 owns a condo downtown. 🏙 We're insured by multiple/various insurance companies. We've owned our homes between 27 – 2 yrs. Rates have risen but not out of the ordinary. 🏡 The running story about carriers leaving & massive rate hikes simply isn't true. ☺🏖🌞🌴🍊🙏🏼💞
