A new study confirms that the vital Colorado River Basin has lost 10 trillion gallons of water over a period of 21 years due to warming temperatures. NBC News’ Miguel Almaguer shares more on how climate change is impacting the critical water source.

Came for the silly science aliterate comments, was not disappointed. People actually believe scientists didn't think of the obvious. Lost 10T gallons "due to warming temperatures" and people are challenging that statement. It has lost 10T because of warming and then some more because of the science aliterates concerns. They never want to revisit the warming part.

Stop eating animals, people! Agriculture accounts for 80% of water consumption in California. This mainly accounts for the growing of the plant Alfalfa. Alfalfa is a plant grown to feed livestock. Beef consists of a large portion of the American diet. In order to feed these animals the production of Alfalfa is increased significantly due to the increase in demand for a beef hungry diet. Beef has a water footprint of 4 million gallons per ton produced. This is far more than any other crop.

It's not losing water just from climate. Humans are drawing from that resource more than ever. The video didn't mention that the world human population has more than doubled since 1974. Even if there was enough water 30 to 50 years ago, that resource is getting spread pretty thin now. The population increased from 5B in 1987 to 8.1B today. The world population is expected to hit 10B by 2060, assuming climatastrophy and/or war hasn't wiped us out by then.

Have these people heard of water management? That's right it would make too much sense, and that's right, this administration don't have that.
They need to increase the cloud seeding by at least 35% to 40%, in the west coast area. Also wide spread process of pip transfer of sea water to drinkable water. I dont want to hear about the cost find the money by any means.
Stick out your arms. That area receives over a 100 watts of energy in the sun. Even more in the summer. Every increase in temp, increases the carrying capacity of air to hold water. Temps have been measured. And temps have been measured pretty accurately in the last 21 years. Its not other tributaries. It isn't diversion. Its global warming. Even when the agreements for the Colorado River basin were first done, they knew it would be a future drought, let alone the additional pressures from climate change. But hey, keep developing that dessert. Don't plan more than 2 minutes into the future.
