So, best case scenario for the prosecution is right smack dab in the middle of the campaign. Completion, just before election day. Sentencing just before inauguration day. How on earth did the DOJ allow this? If they just had speeded up the process by 6 months, they could have saved the country this fiasco. Someday, historians are going to look back on this and point to Merrick Garland like they now do Neville Chamberlain… either him or Elmer Fudd.
