Three men are facing misdemeanor assault charges in connection to the Montgomery Riverfront brawl involving two groups of boaters. Montgomery Police Chief Darryl J. Albert said more charges are expected.

Charges? I DON'T GET IT.
Some people started a fight, they were punished onsite for their bad behavior, no one was seriously hurt, and no one wants to press charges. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? The nation actually seemed entertained by this WWE-like incident.
Even though the fight was between whites and blacks, I agree that it wasn't a hate crime. It was more of an ignorant crime. Usually, during a hate crime, racial slurs are hurled. This wasn't that.
