as someone from hawaii, i would like to say that people who are saying that front street/other areas were home to marks of "missionaries" so people from hawaii shouldn't be sad, here's what i think:
regardless of the missionary presence in the town, it does not change in the slightest that it is apart of our history. hawaiian royalty personally invited many missionaries to the islands– and there are many instances of positive impact on hawaii. front street was called "historic" for a reason. while I do not live on maui, it makes my blood boil to see people saying "why didn't they escape quicker", "it's xxx's fault", or "this is what happens when xxx"; because that's not even remotely important. hawaii people are known for being kind and caring, and while there are people ranting on the internet, there are others willing to step in and offer support/even feel empathy to the familes impacted. my heart is with all those who have been hurt by this.❤️🩹

People care more about historical landmarks than the loss of life or Jesus Christ. How many died and rejected Jesus? They aren’t in heaven with the Lord Jesus. It’s sad because it’s so simple, just believe. Believe that Jesus is God, believe that He came to earth to shed His blood on the cross. Jesus died on that cross, He was buried and rose again on the third day as it is written in scripture. Repent and be saved today.
No mention about loss of life? The loss of property is less in comparison to the lives lost.
Maybe it’s time to rebuild the Brick Palace which is significant to past rulers.
