How much do you wanna bet that this fire was on purpose? Think about it. Now all historical housing and business will get insurance and still be offered substantial monies to buy that whole strip so that developers and contractors will be able to build hotels, casinos, whatever. Can't destroy historical buildings unless they burn down.

Heard they are covering something sinister up by creating fires, something apparently had to be burned up, initially it was suppose to be all the islands there to catch fire but God stepped in
So very, very sad and inexcusable that Maui County's elected officials were more concerned with filing lawsuits against fossil fuel companies over non-existent climate change impact and making time to make an official resolution supporting the Paris Climate Accord but had no concerns over and no time to ensure Maui County had adequate fire prevention, fire mitigation and firefighting capabilities in place. Moral of the story is don't vote for liberals that have fallen for the climate change scam if you don't want to risk having your community totally destroyed and dozens of your fellow neighbors unnecessarily killed.
The US is always slow to react to disasters they have so much planes in the Air force why aren't they depolyed to fight this fire and help people???????????

Unfortunately, most of the locals won’t find housing in Maui for years an$ are going to have to make hard choices about where to go since many jobs / local businesses are out of commission for years, remaining housing is either in use or will be needed for contractor crews for years. Very tough situation.
A solution could be to create a secondary safety net/human-made mycorrhizal network/underground system of honesty for children and adults consisting of apps to ENSURE safe housing, clean water, healthy food, quality education, and full health care, an online educational and empowering system of government to identify problems and vote on the most logical and ethical solutions, and a community builder simulator to plan future development to be in harmony with the Earth and with each other. So most people could earn a living wage working towards an ensured basic standard of living for everyone, while achieving self actualization in the process.

The mayor is so incompetant. He's more worried about calling out locals for not going to shelters (hello, they are in shock after just having lost family and their homes) than he is about providing actual relief and real meaningful communication. We have boots on the ground in West Maui and they all say they have no idea what the plan is, where to get food, water, fuel… They have lost everything and the Mayor still wants to throw them under the bus. The governor isn't much better. It is unbelievable that he actually said he had no idea the loss of buildings was as high as it was even after 3 days. How about you hop in a helicopter and view the affected area? Unfortunately, Maui and HI have elected some real losers that apparently are more concerned with their image and their power than actually helping those in need.
