I haven't heard, thus far, of any organized effort from NYC/sending elite first responder tactical unit to aid Maui?… They have been sent throughout America n other countries in numerous other catastrophic events..particularly for search, rescue, n recovery efforts..( Numerous news reports from Maui clearly show additional aid is needed)…if NYC listening:… ???

These are the new stories that give me a little hope! As a resident of Kona for over 30 years, I am truly saddened by what happened on Maui. I have donated money. I also rent out in the house I live in an Airbnb room which I have put on the state as well as other charitable organizations as a temporary lodging for anybody in Maui that lost everything. I’m also sick and tired of seeing posts or comments about conspiracies of why this fire happened. This was a tragic, natural disaster , the worst in Hawaii’s history. The problem, 80 mph gust of wind caused HELCO utility poles to fall on extreme dry vegetation! It was the perfect conditions, unfortunately to start these infernos another thing that’s happening that it’s absolutely disgusting. Developers are already trying to buy the land when bodies have not been recovered! According to what I’ve read over 1000 people are still missing. There were around 17,000 residents that live in Lahaina! If people wanna help, please check out a list of charitable organizations on maui.gov or donate to mauistrong.com. I believe I heard the cost of this is over $6 billion.! I hope and pray the state or Maui county will stop developers from doing this! I really pray the state doesn’t take this land either. So when they start to rebuild Lahaina for Lahaina residence, I’m also going to donate to that as well.!
