A drought affecting the Panama Canal, and the lake that it sits on, is forcing administrators to reduce the number of ships passing through. With 40% of all U.S. traffic coming through the canal consumers may see a rise in prices during the holiday season. NBC News’ Guad Venegas has the details.

Thank goodness I don't depend on NBC for news. Steve, at Poplar Preparedness, Canadian Prepper, etc. pointed this out three days ago. I was able to save on some valuable shipments. If I had just found out today, the loss would have been catastrophic.

Let's have air cargo if the ships can't move without water, shipping items on a cargo airplane would work to get items delivered quickly.

This is bs. Even though people are going to understand this and I'm not going to try to go into, the Caribbean ocean is higher than the Pacific. The way locks work is water enters in from the high side and if exits out the low side. The lake just exits into the canal, it doesn't make it operational. If the lake didn't work the canal and locks still wood because water would always blow from the Caribbean to the Pacific. Don't believe me look up the construction and how it works.
This is just another business, cutting their piece out of the pie, to further push are profits and inflation in the process.
They could just raise the price 🤷. I would respect that that I don't respect a lying excuse built on the ignorance of people on how the canal works. That's the part you let me know right there that this was bs.
