Someone has to shoulder the blame and he knows it.
Did they sound the alarm for a false nuclear bomb attack but yet they can't use the alarm when they need to actually help people
It’s way better than the 476 thug cowards at Uvalde that stood away while kids were blasted to pieces
People of the island need to revolt and hold that goverbment accountable anyone can see this was set up and we need to start questioning if all these fires are natural when you have developers swarming victims the next day.
They did this on purpose and theyre all in on it.
Perhaps he is being scapegoated for those that said the fire was contained and falsely stopped the evacution process already in motion..he used an excuse he was told to use that was hisvsecond choice..but he buckeled under advice of thise around him for failure to di their jobs
What a liar.
this has got to be the lamest excuse ever!
I absolutely do not agree with this guythat entire system was designed as a warning system not only did the warning siren sound when the sirens were astounded but it would have sent text messages to cell phonestelling people it was a firethat is an emergency response siren not a tsunami sirenthe siren should have been sounded with instructions that's the way the system was designed
This pos resigned because he was caught in his own lie about why he didn't activate the sirens. Rest assured, he'll be sued, if not criminally charged.
I guess, we will never know 😮?
Why are we so distracted from the fact that there is a wildfire in Hawaii? This official had a decision to make and he is explaining it. Looks like scapegoating to me. Global warming is the real story.
Good he he quit
Imma resign still get my severance pay and bonuses. And move to the mainland and get another goverment job
lucky for him being stupid and incompentent isn't a crime, just prerequisites for a government job
I agree with him. Why set off a tsunami warning for a fire?
Man the Asians have stolen Hawaii, i can guarantee if you vote them out and you run you own country, you would not have to worry about over population, theft of your land, over building , our of control fires and greed.
Wow who gave this guy the job to look after so many people ? So when a house is on fire in the kitchen and the neighbors see that the flames are coming from the kitchen they should just assume that even if they go and knock on the door or make noise by banging the windows that the neighbors inside would just go where the fire is because they assume they are just that stupid and won't find a way to try to survive.
He needs to go to jail for a long time..He had a choice, resign Or get fired…
I agree with this guy
People are going to have tough jobs like these in the decades to come with climate change beating the planet – and these people will lose their jobs due to circumstance, impossible situations and the ever angrier public. Best to steer clear of public responsibility – this is standard procedure now.
I agree with him. That is what would have happened – they would have heard the siren, and gone inside… and been burned in a structure, rather than fleeing. There was no where to run, except to go out to sea.
I do feel for him, but his job was tuff. But I really feel for the people too. What about what I hear about the children??
Kinda decent answer…
But..i don't live here
Soinds dumb. You can smell fire
WAOOO
Criminal
so he didn't activate the sirens so people wouldn't head to the bright orange and yellow flames?? Is he stupid or he thinks the people of Maui are?
patronage job. He is directly responsible for the death of hundreds of people
And now the unelected step in
Top official ? I dont think so homie.Mabe they can give him a new job as a snowplow operator .
