Squatters need to be arrested. When they are removed from a home, they just find another house. Most times leaving $1000s worth of damage. They don't just become law abiding citizens and start paying rent. 🤨

As a landlord. Most towns/citys nowdays require an occupancy permit, which requires a lease to be shown from the owner. If there is no occupancy permit the police can remove the squatter/s as it is criminal. Other wise removal is a civil matter on getting them removed which can take up to 90 days. The squatters will then have ample time to cause much damage to the property. IF you can catch the property empty and take possession ( changing locks) then the civil burden is on the squatters to retake possession which most won't go through. The police won't do much as this is now is a civil matter. The laws do give the squatter more rights than the owners.
The law would not allow.
Take all exterior doors completely off the house and property. Spray a can of Skunk Dust in the house. They'll leave.
