In the Spokane, Washington area, emergency workers continue to fight the flames of the wildfires that have burned down nearly a hundred homes. NBC News’ Jesse Kirsch speaks with one resident who fled, now staying in a Red Cross shelter.

I don't get why they don't do seasonal burn offs to prevent fires and stop building among pine trees and thick vegetation although I understand and love being surrounded by nature but these fires can seriously be prevented from being as furious and uncontrollable as they are .

Stop your whining……..2 weeks on from the Maui fires and still 850 people are missing. Normally most of those people are found within a week………If 800 plus people have died in those wildfires it would have been the largest death toll by wildfires in recent memory. To give you a comparison The Campfire Wildfire in Cali killed under 100 people.

Land mismanagement. We have the same thing going on in Michigan. They have been tearing out beaver dams and man made dams so we now have floods and droughts, just like in the west. The E.U.P. and Northern Michigan has not had a fire since 1920 so when it burns it will destroy everything. Only a matter of time before we have a big burn.
