That’s useless. You can’t hold one family member responsible for the actions of another.
But, it will still be american…
So, your family member gets elected to office and then you have to follow an ethic standard you did not agree to? Every office ethic standard is agreed to by taking the job. What happens? Do you get disowned from your family if you violate this standard? How close of a family connection? 1 step removed (aka parent, sibling, or child of) 2 steps removed (aka aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or Grandparent) or even 3 steps removed?
What!?? Key question is WHO will create this code of ethics? Will it be by referendum and citizen questionnaires with votes, which IS now possible because of computers. NOPE, it will be created by congress, the very people who consistently do conflict-of-interest, unethical stuff as a part of their careers! They'll write into the code all types of loop holes. The lobbying system is a massive ethics sewer. There is an enforceable code of ethics for doctors, social workers, psychologists, teachers, day care workers, airline pilots, the military and many more but NOTHING of an enforceable code of ethics for politicians. It is long past over due.
We'd never be able to elect a president or ANY official.
