1980 we purchased $40k home 10% interest 30yr loan.
$25,000 annual income.
Inflation drives numbers larger & divide dollar value smaller pieces.
Sure wish I had some of that family money lol. What a joke, at the way things are going I’ll never be able to own in my home state. Probably gonna save up here in Cali and move elsewhere
worked. Paid for my down payment myself? I guess my family could have helped me if I asked…..but why if I can do it myself? lol
The effects of the downturn are beginning to sink in. People are being impacted by the long-term decline in property prices and the housing market. I recently sold my house in the Sacramento area, and I want to invest my lump-sum profit in the stock market before prices start to rise again. Is now the right moment to buy or not?
Easy fix. Phase out investor tax breaks for home *ownership*, such as depreciation, over 4 years, 25% a year. Inventory will come onto the market within two months. Owner-Occupiers don't get those tax breaks, and investors shouldn't get them either.
I worked in the Real Estate industry for over 30 years both in sales and as an appraiser. I'm also in the "boomer" generation. Everyone I know had to get their parents to help with downpayment for their first house. It's something that has gone on for over 60+ years, it's nothing new. What is relatively new is the generations that came after us wanted houses that were already fixed and decorated to their liking. No more do you find young people who are willing to buy a "fixer upper" – they think it's beneath them. This also started the trend of kids not willing to work in a fast food restaurant because that was beneath them also. I have no sympathy for them. They need to learn what every other generation before them had to learn – live within your means and get a second job!

The best thing to teach ur kids is the concept of delayed gratification… Work for things and earn it.
Absolutely not… If they cannot afford it on their own then they r not ready to own… And yes that sucks 3 of my 4 kids own their own home the other living with his wife in her sister basically helping them pay for their house… But don't know how he will ever be able to buy a house.
Thanks to the Rich Men North of Richmond.
(sort of related) . . . Automobiles are becoming less affordable as well. Increasing in price faster than median income level.
Can't Wait To See The Spoiled Little Brats Suffer From Being Truly Broke…!!! Love…..Love…..Love….!! Spending Like They're Rich….?? Suffer…!!
5 million illegals need 2 to 3 million apartments. What could go wrong? Oh yeah, hyperinflation. And where did this come from? 2 million illegals a year times 8 years of Biden, 16 million, about 10 million apartments needed. So bad already, they just have to sleep on the streets. Nowhere to put them.
A new problem I am seeing pop up is the realtors milking the system. The realtors will charge either 50-100 dollars to just see/inspect/view the place to rent. They will just NEVER rent it out and keep making the consistent "viewing money".
We’re in a inflation crisis how can you come out and say we have to do something stop assessing artificial values but your no will to give up the commissions the realtors are the drivers this mess along with the administration.
Stop mooching off the evil Boomers. ; )

Blame Boomers

I’m favoured! Despite the ups and downs in the economy, I'm so happy withdrawing $32K weekly profit out of my investment I just cleared my mortgage 7 months ago and I give back 20% of my weekly interest back to Charity. People should learn to invest more and spend wisely.
a bigger portion of those under 30 still live at home. and with 100K in college loans and unemployed will never own a home. thats the problem which is starting to show finally. no new home buyers no new homes, and no one working to build new ones. so as they pay their interest only they are rotting away the foundation of growth in our country.
