I always let children out from elevator first cause I know this can happen, Literally some people don't have enough instinct to protect their own children sad.

that elevator is broken or otherwise not certified. elevators have a safety sensor on the door that prevents exactly that.

If you have small hands. There should be a sensor and arm that if blocked or pushed, opend the door. But obviously the sensor is malfunctioning or null. The inside button should open the door (door open) look for "DH" that means Door Hold
