California lawmakers voted to ban discrimination based on caste, adding protections for people of South Asian descent. The bill heads to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk and if signed will make the state the first to outlaw the practice. NBC News’ Gadi Schwartz reports.

It should definitely be illegal for people to discriminate based on caste, but that should be covered by antidiscrimination laws in general. Shouldn’t even be a discussion. I Recently saw a Brahmin matrimonial site for USA lol meaning through this stupid site only brahmins can marry each other and not to other castes and in this way sustain this stupid caste system. And they say there isn't no caste system in USA. 😅

Unfortunately Hindus first identity has become their caste and not religion. Through arrange marriages they have managed to sustain caste system (they rarely marry outside of their caste especially to lowered caste Hindus). If Indians in general and Brahmans in particular are truly proud of its Vedas, Upanishads and Geeta then this end of cast discrimination should be adopted willingly by Brahmin people by stopping Upanayan Sansakara. Due to this title of being supreme being or holy, the inner senses do not start accepting what you say instead get aroused even more strongly. Due to this, the whole life is spent in tension and the person remains devoid of even basic human life. Those who have similar views and able to survive this hardship will free themselves and their children from this hardship, hence they will have to voluntarily sacrifice their lives to live as a common man. If the son of the Queen of Britain and the daughter of the King of Japan can do this, we can do the same. Living normal life is not that much a big struggle.

One thing most of you ignore is the influence of color in the 🇳🇪 Indian caste system, with the light skinned Indians (Brahmins) occupying the highest caste and the darker skinned Indians (Dalits) being regarded as dirty, untouchable, and hence, lowest of all castes. America has a similar thing, vaguely refered to as Racism, but it's actually Anti-Black Culture and it's everywhere even in Asian and Europe.

Most of those migrating to USA are from upper castes from India. Also most of them go through such a highly competitive edu system that they are the very best of talent from India. They dominate the American tech industry.
However, India also maintains affirmative action which is based on Caste. Lower castes in India score pathetic marks and are still able to get admission to prestigious IITs. A very low number of them also manage to go to the U.S. exploiting American Affirmative Action programmes.
So these people are mostly products of double Affirmative Actions. Indian and American.
However, when they get hired in highly competitive US companies filled with high caste indian techies…they are unable to deliver at a very high level vis a vis their high caste Indian peers(generally speaking, exceptions are always there) Hence, an easy way to protect their jobs is to cry "caste discrimination".

Caste bias is so dumb. You never know who could be the smartest or best if you gate-keep over things that have nothing to do with intellectual ability. One could argue that lower quality education plays a part in the selection but some ppl are so smart that it doesn’t make any difference about their education which I believe it makes them the superior mind when they are able to outperform someone who had the best education. It also makes no sense to me that we do not have a national curriculum and that everyone does not receive the best education regardless of status.
