Potential plans underway for high-speed trains across the U.S.

Brightline, a privately-owned rail company, is constructing a train connection from Miami to Orlando that will rival Amtrak’s intracity passenger service with the use of high-speed trains, traveling up to 125 miles per hour. NBC News’ Gadi Schwartz reports.

  1. The problem is that Amtrak keeps making terrible engineering errors. The Acela is too fat, and is slow because it can't tilt. The new Acela replacement is defective and is in storage. The new locomotives called Chargers stall in snow and break down a lot. The new passenger cars can't set off the signal system reliably so they need to send double the cars just to make sure. The problem isn't infrastructure, funding or anything else. THE PROBLEM IS AMTRAK.

  2. Another mess!! Waiting to happen.

  3. Probably ask the Chinese for help is the easiest.

  4. I hope all of America swaps to trains. So much safer and more reliable than cars, much much cheaper too once the infrastructure is there. The only thing that prevents me from using trains more right now is the price, speed, and lack of routes but it's my travel preference by A LOT.

  5. Also need passenger trains need the right away before freight .the way it is now. And Nationalize the rail tracks.๐Ÿ‘

  6. Better get tech advice from Europe ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ . How to do it right ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ

  7. Can we stop talking about this and make it reality? Jesus. The proposals have become dead horses

  8. Finally more trains!!!! Thank goodness!!!! ๐Ÿ˜Šโค Progress at last!!!!! We need infrastructure spending (yea, I'm talking to you GOP and Manchin and Sinema)…. spending almost zero money on infrastructure is finally coming to it's long awaited end!!!! ๐Ÿ˜Šโคโคโคโคโค

  9. This country has needed a High Speed Rail running from NYC to LA & back for a long time. Stop investing hard earned tax payers dollars in other countries and start taking care of our own! The time is Now. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ

  10. OMG! The Great Satan has no HSR! Now you know why they are so jealous of China which has thousands and thousands of kilometers throughout the country.

  11. tsa been burning their route for years…..

  12. I hope they start on these soon-more people can live further away from expensive big cities .Employers/Employees will have more choices.Weekend getaways will be epic!!

  13. Our country is so far behind with high speed rail.

  14. I think this is an awesome idea, but it would also be even better if the train can go 1500 miles an hour and shorten travel time dramaticallyโค

  15. Hahahahahaha Hahahahahaha Hahahahahaha Hahahahahaha Hahahahahaha Hahahahahaha Hahahahahaha Hahahahahaha Hahahahahaha!!!!
    About 40 years late!๐Ÿ˜‚

  16. It would be great if they could expand into other states.

  17. if i could get rid of my car for mass affordable and convenient public transport, i would in a heartbeat

  18. Just as long as they don't waste any of my tax dollars on this pointless experiment. Trains do not work in America where we have suburbs for hundreds of miles. Trains work in Japan and China where they live on top of each other quite literally.

  19. America is wntering 21st century.

  20. when u have corrupted system from top down , from oil , energy ,auto ,union & insurance companies have their own agenda instead of improving life for people .Contrary look at Asian countries all across have good public subway high speed transportation improving people's life ,saving time & $$ (from pay no gas , insurance , government license , maintenance)lower there living freeing up there time & $ .Then again the so called Democratic selection is a fault because it only selected a corrupted lying leader to run the country not for people but for those who actually funded the candidate .Proof is from the #of approval for the elected leaders is <30% . That tells u the leader isn't working for their people but himself ,so he has to lie said making the country great or creating a great economy all the time .

  21. Lol we are so behind in the US.

  22. Do it all the way up coast and cross country! Talk is cheap and hopelessly lame!!!๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

  23. If california can't even build a high speed rail, what makes you think the US could?

  24. Private Investors for bullet trains ? … ๐Ÿ˜‚
Just a look at the UK – all privatized and the HS2 project failure – compared to the EU high speed train network.
    Dead on arrival !

  25. Not with this failing and crumbling infrastructure…if it happens, gonna be expensive and done half-a$$ed… cheap quality.

  26. Because of what brightline has done in Florida, the entire country is looking at them for all sorts of new high-speed rail potentials

  27. Miami to Orlando is not the same as across the US

  28. It's only a matter of time, the US will eventually catch the High Speed Rail bug.

  29. Texas ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ
    Houston Dallas

  30. Our transportation infrastructure is hot garbage. 120 mph? pffft thats nothing.

  31. They should definitely start connecting all the major cities of each state! Flights are becoming way too expensive. I've been to Europe and love their public transportation systems! May take a long time, but I'm glad we are starting somewhere building high-speed trains.

  32. The reason Brightline is successful is because they choose routes that are easy to build and have one motive: to make money. This canโ€™t be replicated everywhere though.
Meanwhile, California High Speed Rail has built lots of overpasses and viaducts, even though no track is laid. Itโ€™s taken so long due to lane disputes, endless environmental review and challenges, as well as inefficient procurement and contracting. These all lead to increased costs.
The Texas Triangle was mentioned. A private company called Texas Central was poised to build but they ran out of funding. Recently, Amtrak came out and said they would partner with the company to plan for rail there. This shows that government intervention in rail can still pay off.

  33. We just have to make sure no corporation is opposed first since they rule us. Our convenience and well-being is always 2nd to corporate profits. There, fixed it for you.

  34. 2:14 the faster Avelia Liberty trains for Acela service are expected to come out in 2024, not 2026. It is the Siemens Venture (AKA the Airo) that comes out in 2026. This train will be used for trains running on the Northeast Corridor and Cascades region.

  35. 0:50 Brightline to Tampa has not yet been funded. It is only a potential expansion plan (that will probably happen but not for years)

  36. It will be good if they want to do that. Heโ€™ll be pathetic if that is the only way that we can do
