As a former teacher I have always taught reading using the phonetic approach. When the schools started with a whole language approach I saw children failing drastically in reading and with other subject areas. The children were really struggling. Going back to the basis is the key to success.

I am 60, raised in #Iowa and learned #phonics‼️ And i HAD A GRANDMOTHER WHO MADE ME READ, repeatedly and then quiz me on what the story was about! I had difficulty with comprehensive of what i read was always on my report card. This was when i was in SECOND GRADE!

Teach phonicsagain! My mother was a sucessful teacher and tutored children after school how to read! She still has students in their 40s that have never forgotten her! She is Mrs. M! Im so blessed to still have her still at almost 87! She reads everyday has written childrens stories that we are trying to get published that would help so many children to read! Any suggestions please let us know! She was on of the best and worked for jefferson county Schools in Colorado for over 30 plus years! She is my hero! When they took out phonics that is why these children are struggling to read! Bring back the phonics!
