I was at work at a hotel checking out the guests and looked up at the Today Show for the local news break.
The 1st plane hit, my knees went weak and I had to keep my breakfast in. I thought OMG, this IS terrorists and the Declaration of War.
I had extended family in NYC and I couldn't get through to them, it brought me to my knees. 1 just made it out of the 1st tower.
My boss was supposed to be there for a conference call in NYC. He came in my office Casper The Ghost shaking speaking his native Polish.
I spent the next 2w in a hotel basically sitting in my office watching TV with emotional extremes. I've been in a hotel for the off season, but not in a mute morgue operation like this!
The next thought was of my father who served in Korea and was a DEEP patriot. We had ALWAYS a flag in our yard. I could feel Dad spinning to dust in disgust!
I watched NORAD scramble jets over my Air Bases and then sat in shock and awe as Shanksville happened.
I went to the store and got my 🇺🇲 and it stayed up for years.
Not long after that my 23yo nephew enlists in USMC and went to war through 3 Middle East tours from Iraq and Afghanistan. He was secret service to the #1 USMC General in country.
Our family had no contact for 6+ months because he was dark in Fallujah.He popped up on 🎄 video chat because I was silently able to pull it off after the last email. I had to pick my sisters off the floor!
I had his 5yo son when he was in Kandahar and then tried to explain why I had a yellow ribbon on my front porch.
Why is Dad gone; where and why? Is he ok, when's he coming home??? Will he die? Is he gone because of the bad man in the plane?
The hardest question is to answer a child like this in that situation.
I've seen sacrifice of service and on the home front. May we never forget about 9/11. God bless America and President Biden.
FYI: Said nephew just retired as SSGT in aforementioned USMC. His kids got an education for life in the way of moving from Post to Post across the global stage.

I want to make one issue known to the general public here in the States. When any person ever born becomes faced with adversity, people don't fail or back away from "what must be done"; we do "what must be done", and think about what happened later. That is a true spirit of mankind, and of our God and Savior. America's on the jobs it faces.
May all the American families impacted by 9/11 be comforted in knowing that we are with you in our hearts. May God bless you and comfort you as we unify America The Way We Were Unified on the 11th of September 2001. In God's name we pray.

Well done Mr. President, a wholesome and sober speech. A timely reminder of what it takes to protect a country's democracy….. sacrifice, on the part of men and women brave enough to be selfless..
