The oil companies didn't know what was going to happen. Nobody did, and frankly nobody does. They had done some scientific research and had constructed some models, which they correctly treated with caution. As everyone should do, as all the subsequent models have been shown not to work, and vary enormously in their output. The problem is you believe these climate models to be Truth Machines. They are not.
This law suit doesn't consider that the BTU carbon output of all of the coal plants being built by China since 2009 are radically raising carbon output. Additionally, most oil and gas production is produced by government owned entities in other Countries. Finally isn't the real problem that we have gone from about 2.5 billion people in the world to about 8 billion people in one lifetime. This was only possible via the industrial revolution, most of which happened before the current cause/effect thinking was established.
Who dis Beach?
Pull out. Make gas go to $100/gallon in Kalifornia.
Alleged? Knock off using stupid turms like that.
TARGET Oil Company CEOs NOT the Public.

The fossil fuel industry must begin to pay their fair share. They don't pay for the externalities caused by their flawed product. The rest of us end up paying for climate change and air pollution.
Currently there is only one climate model, the INM-CM5, which has fulfilled basic validation. It does not indicate a crisis. The "climate scientist" behind the other models are grant prostitutes.

California has lost its ever loving mind
The trail will include the majority of industries globally, not just oil. Everything from agriculture and textiles, to mining and manufacturing and shipping to airlines and beyond. Even things related to white collar will end up under the microscope. Add to the list, construction and all the flammable houses that are built.
Ultimately, the politicians globally, as well as the extensive list on the various stock markets will bare the lions share in history, I believe.
This is ultimately a futile endeavor and no real focus on fixing anything.
