This couple had an extremely close encounter with a huge bison herd that stopped traffic at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

The accompanying footage reveals what a stampede looks like from inside the nearest vehicle stopped on a park highway.

Keep in mind that bison are the largest land animals in North America and can weigh as much as 2,000 pounds. The iconic beasts can sprint up to 30 mph, so a stampede might literally be earth-shaking.

  6. Avant les guerres indiennes, imaginez le fleuve de bisons qui coulait pendant des jours. 😢😢😢😢😢

  7. Actually awesome creations of God, they sustained the American Indians and others for generations with their meat and their fur. I wish all would’ve been like the American Indian though and let nothing go to waste, they used almost every part of any Buffalo they killed.

  8. Are they just out for their morning run as a family or are they actually running from something? What causes a stampede?

  9. Love this footage and I love the amazing beauty of these majestic animals. Thank God for the protections instituted by our government to ensure their existence.

  10. USA Today is irresponsible to post these tourons… idiots shouldn't be so close. Yellowstone is not a zoo. Too bad Darwin was napping… these fools should have been trampled for this.

  12. We take their migration routes and then act like, "Oh my God 😢. Wtfe, humanity sucks

  13. ❤That’s beautiful. Thanks for posting! ❤

  14. In the 19th century there were 60 million of these creatures, by 1900 they were less than 1000 alive.
Imagine a time when the herds covered miles across the plains and you could feel the ground shake miles away when they ran. What a beautiful site, such a tragic story of what people did to them.

  15. Maybe they are trying to tell us something!
