It’s not like that woman has lived there all her life. She purchased that home in 2016 fully aware that she was buying in a flood zone in a heavy hurricane corridor. If people want to buy homes in areas that they know will flood, then the government should not have to bail them out. If you want to live near the ocean or near a river and enjoy the perks when it’s sunny, then you agree to the risks and eat the cost yourself when it floods.
The house will have to be raised or razed. I'm afraid the government is not going to come through in time before another storm.
FEMA officials should have to answer for its incompetence, that bunch has been a disaster before Hurricane IKE and the way they handled the disaster was disgusting, the people had to repeatedly go through the process and they were not able to get the right help , I hope that lady gets her house raised like it needs to be , even the state and churches could help make that happen
