Darryl George, a high school junior in Texas, has been suspended from school twice this year because of his hairstyle. The school district says he violated their grooming code which prohibits male students’ hair from extending below the eyebrows or ear lobes. It comes as the state’s CROWN Act just went into effect, banning acts of discrimination against certain hair styles and textures in schools and workplaces. His family is now considering legal action. It's very easy. You got to junior year without that hair do, fall into guidelines and you'll back. Or go to another school where you can express yourself. But don't go vigilante on at a school trying to maintain decorum and rules of discipline. It's called standards and we need some of that in our breakloose society today.

I lost why is there a law about the length of a person hair is it a military school. So do Caucasian males have to cut there hair short as well? If it only applies to natural hair then everyone who came up with a stupid law as this should be sued from the judges to the lawmakers.
Civil rights lawsuit incoming and deserved. This is troubling in general and especially due to racial implications. If my school has such a policy, I would never have been in school as I had shoulder length hair and would not have cut it.

If the hairstyle or attire is allowed in the mall and at the Magic Kingdom, then it should be allowed in public schools. There is nothing wrong with males having long hair and the dress standards should be the same for both male and female students. Plus, it is non disruptive and does not pose a threat to health and safety. The First Amendment guarantees the right to individuality and freedom of expression.
I am sure Barber Hills ISD will lose big time if sued again in Houston.

Just as the school district is asking for clarification, the same for their policy. He, the young man, hair is not below his eyebrows or pass his ears. He is technically following the school policy. So, I hope someone will argue this point. It does not specifically state all male's hair can only be a certain length. It states it cannot be worn below a student's eyebrows or ears. SMH
