A high school band director was tased by police after his band refused to stop playing following the end of a football game.

Authorities in Birmingham, Alabama, are investigating after police shocked a high school band director with a stun gun in front of dozens of students after a football game Thursday.
The incident happened after police told a Minor High School band director to stop his band’s performance and clear the stadium approximately 20 minutes after the game ended. The band had been playing music as part of the game’s so-called fifth quarter, which is when performers continue to entertain audiences after a football game finishes, local outlets reported.
It remains unclear if band director Johnny Mims was lawfully arrested, attorneys in Birmingham told USA TODAY. It makes sense that police wanted to clear the stadium that night, said attorney Eric Guster, because Thursday’s game came just weeks after a teenager brought a gun to a football game in nearby Hueytown, Alabama, causing players to drop to the field to try to protect themselves.

seems clear to me the police told him to shut it down and leave and the band director refused to comply then when they tried to arrest him he resisted arrest so the cops tased his ass the only person i see at fault is the band director for not complying immediately with the cops the band director got what he deserved maybe next time he will do what the cops tell him to do immediately without a fight or argument
For him to act like a complete ass in front of the young band members is totally uncalled for. Telling the police to get out of his face? Really? He better be thankful that these cops were civil or this could have ended much more worse. Citing the safety of its students, Birmingham City School said it prohibits the 5th quarter, stating that BCS High School bands are instructed to exit the stadium at the end of football games. "As a safety precaution, fifth quarter performances are not allowed," Birmingham City Schools said in a statement Wednesday.
"Fifth quarter performances are not allowed." His arrest and the Use of Force was authorized and appropriate. Band Director and all related/involved School staff should also be fired.

The band sounded great, that shows the work put in by the students and staff and should be respected and heard, not told to stop. Lots of people go to stadiums on Friday night to hear bands play. Just because the clock ran out for the game doesn’t mean the band has to stop playing. What law was being violated?
