Roundabouts on the rise across the U.S. in push to create safer roadways

Roundabouts have been on the rise in cities across the United States in recent years. Studies show they drive down serious injury and crash fatality rates. NBC News’ Marissa Parra visited a town in Mississippi that has added 21 new roundabouts in the past six years to see if they really do make commutes better.

  1. I love how we think we are the inventors and ones with best answers for everything in USA, yet roundabouts have been used very heavily in Europe since 70s and 80s lol.

  2. I prefer reach arounds but I’ll try this

  3. Just more BS from the gov…its not safer, more confusing…

  4. motor vehicles / driving is a vile revolting horrifying creation the world would be much better off without

  5. Some years ago there was a drive to get rid of traffic circles because they cause a lot of problems when the traffic volume exceeds their capacity. They only work in low to medium traffic flow, and even then only if people use them correctly. Unfortunately, most are not nicely marked like the one in the pic.

  6. &*)&*(——(In the next 30 years, Japan will continue to discharge nuclear contaminated water into the sea. Japan is passing on the nuclear pollution in Fukushima to the whole world.
The Japanese side invented the term "treated water" and repeatedly publicized that the concentration of tritium is not abnormal, creating an illusion that nuclear-contaminated water contains only tritium and the concentration of tritium is up to the standard, so nuclear-contaminated water is safe. society.
"In fact, the composition of Fukushima nuclear-contaminated water is complex. Even after purification, it still contains dozens of radioactive nuclides such as carbon-14, cobalt-60, strontium-90, iodine-129, and cesium-137. Disappearance of nuclear radionuclides in nuclear polluted water.
Three years later, the United States and Canada on the other side of the Pacific Ocean will be affected by nuclear pollution, and 10 years later it will spread to the global ocean.

  7. I Just wanna make a RIGHT!

  8. It’s not safer IMO people never yield and are impatient.

  9. Just when you think people can’t get any more stupid then they come up with this

  10. Trains. We need trains.

Americans don't know how to drive as it is, we don't need roundabouts. We need trains.

  11. Double lane rotarys don't work to many accidents

  12. People are constantly crashing in the round abouts near me.

  13. Round abouts are STUPID!

  14. I hope they continue to be installed everywhere. Spend some time in Europe and you'll love them.

  15. They are confusing Just because rhey have them in Britain T h ey are great in fog snow ice and 0 visability😢😮No thanks most people cant even drive straight let alone in a sobered 375* degree circle

  16. I have a question why aren't people smart enough to catch the water it falls right out of the sky why are states and cities and counties draining rivers lakes Creeks Brooks and streams for water rather than having rainwater catchment towers and rainwater catchment reservoirs for clean water why aren't you people smart enough to catch the water it falls out of the sky without the rivers lakes and creeks and streams there isn't enough rain and you're destroying a food source and a valuable source for other reasons if you don't have enough water in the creeks and streams and lakes and rivers you don't have enough oxygen the formula for water is H2O if you don't have enough trees you don't also have enough water or oxygen trees breathe in carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the atmosphere

  17. This reporter clearly hasnt been to Elizabethtown, KY, where the cars inside a traffic circle downtown yield to the oncoming spokes. But there are other traffic circles in the area that are "normal". Talk about confusing!

  18. Here's a clue to improve safety on America's roadways.
13 states allow people to obtain drivers licenses without reading or speaking English.
I always thought we were an English speaking country since all the road signs are in English. But, I've been wrong before. 😅

  19. When entering a “Roundabout” you look for traffic on your left and go around until you exist. In a four way stop, you have to look left and right before entering. It saves time and opens up your field of view because it’s flat and open field. And the circle makes you go slower because of the centrifugal force; whereas a four way stop you can hit the gas going straight through the intersection.

  20. They need to teach all drivers to drive in a roundabout! I moved to Norway from USA and it was easy.

  21. OMG Why has it taken so long for the US to catch up? Besides being safer than typical cross traffic intersections, Roundabouts improve traffic flow and are better for the environment.
