The Senate has unanimously passed a formal dress code requiring business attire on the chamber floor, including a coat, tie and slacks for men.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., had quietly changed the dress code last week to allow casual dress, sparking backlash from both sides of the aisle. Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., , known for his more laid-back wardrobe of shorts and a hoodie, was at the center of the clothing controversy.

Led by Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Republican Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, the new resolution reverses Schumer’s original decision.

“The United States Capitol is more than just a place of work − it serves as a symbol of freedom and democracy to the world,” Romney said Wednesday. “Hard work was done, and sacrifices made, to ensure that our legislative branch of government wasn’t just housed in some tent. As senators, we should demonstrate a high level of reverence for the institution in which we serve − and our attire is one of the most basic expressions of that respect.”

  1. He has no business being there to begin with if he can’t even speak, read or write. How could he possibly be representing his constituents? I guess nobody can blame him, after seeing Joe Biden, who makes absolutely no sense and can’t walk or talk either, supposedly get elected.

  2. How dare you. Poor fetterman should be allowed to dress whatever way he wants to.
He once shoved a gun in the chest of a black man for dressing to nice while jogging in his white neighborhood.

  3. he makes over 174,000 dollars per year as senator. he can afford ord a suit . 200 dollar suit, men's bug and tall store in Alexandria va. he can afford a suit.

  4. Fetterman, Biden 2024…….😂Almost as bad as Harris Biden 2020. 😂 Sir here are your depends. Fetterman what does it depend on. Joe Biden You aint black if you don't vote Democrat ( Boi ). Kamala illicits an congested nasal laugh Joe quit Being Racist Again.

  5. Since these Senate clowns don`t care How they dress, they can have their sessions in the restroom of one of the local BUS STOPS.THE Capital building can be used by the BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA.They care How they dress.

  6. Just like a gang after school.

  7. I should've told you the same thing about the Alaskan citizens. They're highly conservative in the things they do. They're just like the Texas residents.

  8. It takes a moron like Fetterman to unite both parties. We can thank him for one good thing he will do while in office. Pitiful!!

  9. more important things going on than what someone wears 😲 like a shutdown 😡

  10. My word…Have they no bigger worries?

  11. So, the government is going to shut down and this is Schumers Priority?

  12. While clothes don't make a man or their actions, I think a casual smart clothes should be expected. For example a polo shirt, plain jersey or T-shirt, traditional shirt with short or long sleeves, and trousers, not ripped or faded jeans are adequate in my mind. Hoody and shorts or a tracksuit is a bit of a stretch.

  13. As senators they should show reverence to the institution not by how they dress but by how they act and by not being corrupt corporate puppets who screw the American people.

  14. Mitt Romney is a lowlife, but Fetterman MUST show more respect for himself amd those he represents. Fetterman needs to dress like a man and not like he's still at uni.

  15. As a Democrat, I approve.

  16. Great now the senators will come in with a thong and sandals

  17. I don't give a dam what he or they wear, as long as policy is being passed.

  18. Fetterman is an actual man of the people. Those other crooks cant stand it.

  19. Chuck is the guy who gave the criminal more rights than the victims in NY… I see why he would cover for Fetterman!

  20. Hey PA you elected
    This NUM N🥳T
    Buy him a suit.

  21. Next thing you know they will be wearing helmets with horns!
What? That was already approved by the republican party hmmm.

  22. Custom suits are expensive af! And that is all he can wear! Maybe they should give Fetterman a clothing allowance, if they're so concerned!😒

  23. What? You mean they're not going to be able to wear tank tops, shorts and flip-flops to work now. Man how unprofessional is that. Wait I forgot about the hoodie.

  24. With all due respect Mitt. As a senator… You don’t find your previous business of purchasing companies, robbing the employees of their pensions, and then selling off all the assets to the lowest bidders… inappropriately? I didn’t really agree with the change in dress code. It was an unneeded distraction and shouldn’t have been implemented. If it was an accommodation issue that would be one thing. I just love how these people like Mitt, hold themselves in such high regard after spending a life time profiting off of destroying American companies. FaQue Mitt! 😂

  25. The suit doesn't make him a distinguished man. Many men with suits are CROOKS. Fetterman is dressed for comfort and he isn't a crook.

  26. 😂😂😂😂 he is implementing my dress code/ as long as you are not naked 👊 😂😂😂

  27. Yeah, because what you wear makes you pass better legislation for the working class. GTFO

  28. How does Chuck Swindler keep getting elected?

Sorry I forgot, he controls the elections system
