No one brings up the partnership between Target and CVS. A day before Target announced its closures CVS announced a 900 store closure. The 9 Target closures are small store urban formats that used to be called “City Target”. These were introduced after their partnership with CVS. These were designed to compete with Walgreen’s. Retail pharmacies are struggling, because insurance companies have gone direct to consumer. A store losing a million dollars from people stealing T-Shirts is a writeoff. The pharmaceutical industry cutting you off from your goldmine is not a writeoff and puts these businesses on life support.
