Hiding one's beliefs under compulsion is common in many societies and religions. It has been a feature of Islam since its earliest days, and is acknowledged by Muslims of virtually all persuasions.[7] However, the use of Taqiyyah varies, especially between Sunni and Shia Muslims. Sunni Muslims gained political supremacy over time and therefore only occasionally found the need to practice Taqiyyah. On the other hand, the minority Shiah community developed taqiyyah as an instinctive method of self-preservation and protection in hostile environments.[8]

i remember my shock and horror on 9/11. that shock lasted for a good month. how can u fathom killing thousands of non-combatants in one act? one cannot. i fully understand isreal's need to ensure this never happens again. hamas is responsible for what comes of it. we CANNOT have another holocaust. palestinians must reject hamas.
