Who is to blame? Many say the Sackler family, who took in billions in profits from drug sales through their company Perdue Pharma. The Supreme Court is now weighing in on that. In August, SCOTUS blocked a $6 billion opioid settlement that would have shielded the Sackler family from civil claims. The court will take up the case and hear arguments this December. USA TODAY Supreme Court Reporter John Fritze joins the 5 Things podcast to discuss the implications for both drug makers and victims.

In my opinion creating a dangerous drug is like an act of treason. It's completely disgusting!
Absolutely 100, the Sackler family should face accountability for the opioid crisis! So far they had a wrist slap, they rebranded and still selling the same drugs. Unacceptable, how the Justice system protected them, instead of doing their job! About time to end the 'second set of justice system' for the Elite. Ready for Prison?!
Thanks you Dr osaba on YouTube my 62years Dad just got a relief from his ringing ear, we thank you for your herbs
How about the politicians who accepted money from the lobbyists who changed laws
No one forces drug users to USE..?? Why blame someone else for there bad life decisions. Myself I think they should past laws to stop anyone trying to help save a person who has Overdosed. When in 5 years time there will not be a drug issue, they will all be dead..?? bye bye losers.
It would have been better if saklers did no make the pergfect speedball but no doctor told anyopne to smoke it. It was Rush Limbaugh who was on the radio and told everybody how wonderful it was. Instead of holding Rush Limbaugh ressponsible to teaching bad habts we want to go after rich people. good luck, rich people have lawyerzs/
Honestly they have destroyed American People , What do you call a group of people who commit mass murder……..
I think the open border where they are bringing in this crap are to blame my son was an addict he was hooked on meth and heroin, he didn't wake up one day n say I'm going to overdose on fentanyl laced drugs..he died 3 years ago at 37 yrs old.. I belong to a group on Facebook where someone is dying every minute..my question is why everything is being laced with fentanyl? Even cannabis is being laced ..so I learned China is the one manufacturing the fentanyl and it's coming in through the open border!! The Sacklers created this monster n now everyone knows the formula๐ข
At the very least, they should be mandated to fund the building, equipping, staffing and operating of rehab facilities. They should pay for everything until the patient recovers.
But on the flip side, how far should being held accountable go, if persons insist on returning to a life of substance abuse?
Absolutely. They knew what they were doing. They should be stripped of their entire earthly holdings and put in prison. Just like someone in the hood would be. Without a second thought.
Listen, you cannot sue anyone for your child being a junkie it is unfair. I have black families, so in the government for the crack epidemic they want to feel sorry for some white families give me a break.
Salut โค
100% yes and should do prison time
๐๐๐
Should the people who created the problem, fomented the problem, and got rich off the problem, be held responsible for the problem they created??
Gee, let me think about that one…
YES
shoutd the comment section be only telepathing?
The fact that these rich people knowingly contributed to the deaths of about a million working class Americans, and none of them are in jail tells you everything you need to know about American "democracy".
They need to serve time in prison in addition to the 6B.
They knew how addicting it was, and cared more about profits than lives.
Yes they contributed to the influx of a massively addictive drug, prescribed in high dosage for profit, to gain patients…… society has fallen apart greatly do to this horrible Opioid crisis…. it's time to hold the corporate perps accountable. ๐๏ธ
