Up to this point we have a retaliation which is justified. However, ground invasion would be a disaster. The collateral damage caused would hurt the reputation of Israel and jeopardize the somewhat stable geopolitical situation that exists in the Middle East. (All relative I know Middle East always has conflicts going on). Any ground war creates major instability in the region, this is 9/11 2.0. The winner is the guy on offense our society still suffers immeasurably from 9/11 with very little in the way of resolution. A negotiated settlement with hostages and a rearmed border is the best outcome. The worst outcome is a major offensive with 10’s of thousands killed. We are entering a lose lose situation here. Hamas has lost credibility here, but could regain it if the wrong cards are played.
