If Hamas was such a great organization, fighting for the common good, why would they be kidnapping Americans?
In all honesty all though, that what you get for traveling to an active zone. Why would you go there in the first place? That's on you, not the US government to save you. I only feely bad for the hostages that have the unfortunate life of living there, not being absolute, brainless people going to an active warzone.
