A man fatally shot by Georgia police during a traffic stop had previously served 16 years in prison after a wrongful conviction. A Camden County deputy pulled 53-year-old Leonard Allan Cure over at about 7:30 a.m. Monday on Interstate 95, according to a statement issued by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The bureau says that Cure got out of his car upon the deputy’s request and otherwise complied until he learned he would be arrested. “After not complying with the deputy’s requests,” the deputy stunned him with a Taser. After that, “Cure assaulted the deputy,” who used a baton and again a Taser on Cure, the bureau said.

Justified.
Case Closed.
Cop was already mad when he got out car.
Just another black dude acting like a fool….just the Democrat Party wants them too.
They missed the high speed chase at the beginning for one.
They skipped the parts where the officer tried to use two non lethal forms of defense before being choked and having to make a choice of being killed or using his firearm.
I remember going 80-90 in a 35 and didn’t get pulled out of my car and just got a ticket. The cop did everything he could to escalate the situation, including him tasing him for raising his left hand, and was super surprised that the CIVILIAN that was calmer than him the whole time matched his energy. Couldn’t even hold his own against an unarmed, tased man. What an embarrassment.
For those posted did you even try to know more about the story or just base your comments on this little snippet of the encounter. Here are somethings not in the video. 1. Yes he was sppeding, yes the cops says 100mph. But initial police press release said 90. 2. Even speeding once the cop started his lights Mr Cure started trying to move over to stop,,even using his turn signals to change lanes. He took no chances to unsafely stop sooner but when he could he did stop safely. Also did you know Mr Cure spent 16yrs in jail, before being released for a crime he never commited. He was threatened with arrest for speeding and was never driving reckless (find the full video release to see what i mean). Think of the fear, anger about the idea of going to jail for speeding that went through Mr Cures mind. Also did you know the deputy was fired from another sherrifs department in 2017 for excessive use of force?? Did you know that pulling taser before even contacting the individual is a violation of most law enforcement procedures? If was for "officer safety" why tell him to get out of the car giving more a chance to get closer to the officer. What was not shown was the backup response time. 5 cops got the in about 8 minutes. Why go one on one, why not wait that 8 minutes then its 5 on one. They all could of overwhelmed him and like not have shot and killed him,,over a speeding ticket.
How can anyone defend him after watching this?
That is what is wrong with the law. Police do what they want. He sounds scared and mad. If he is, he needs another line of work.
Police Brutality is what it is!!!!! The Police Officer was in the wrong!!! The Police are all LIARS!!!! They think that they have the right over anyone and what they say in court is the truth even if they lie there ASS off in court it is believed over anyone else, even if they have NO🚫 proof!!!!!
Are you guys sure about this whole comment, to me I think this is happening because he is a back man
From the footage I see here, he got what he asked for…..
Seems pretty excessive for a speeding ticket by both?? Been pulled over going over 100mph never had a cop react like that.
Are we supposed to feel sorry for this guy because if we are I don't. He asked for what he got and he got what he asked for.
Racism
He didn't shoot him because of the traffic stop or for a past wrongful conviction he shot and killed him because the man was trying to kill the cops. USA today is spinning lies we can spot them because we took critical thinking in High School and some of us paid attention. Stop trying to make this man look an innocent victim when he tries to murder the policeman.
Asesinos se gente inocentes.Dios te bndiga mi hermano ojalá puedas y haigas alcanzado su misericordia. Dios no dará por inocente al culpable.
Suya es la venganza el dará el pago.
As a person of color (not American) I gotta say: Why is this even controversial? Although tragic and sad, the man was practically BEGGING to be shot.
If there was 2 officers maybe there was no need for shooting
I wont judge because he a f officer he dont need to shoot a unarmed person he should be strong and trained enough to take on a single Man but he resorted to use gun a pathetic and weak display of strength by one who says they figth for justice and protects people and end up killing many i m sure this not the first time
As for civilian he was on the wrong but officer was agressive and he had no camera and proof in his defence maybe that why he tryed to fight back and also the officer was unreasonable to giving so little explanation but if he didnt wanted to die he shouldnt hve attacked
So i really dont know what to say both were wrong but officer was more evil
He was a lifetime criminal and this time justice was served swiftly 😠
Hey…this guy tried to take the police down. There was no other option in close quarters like that… if he had used a little common sense he’d be alive now.
They love locking up black folks …had that been a speeding white woman he definitely would have treated her very differently!!
A completely normal person who was in a hurry and suddenly this happens. For what? For speeding? I am simply shocked by this crime. It's so easy to take a person's life, I just don't have words, it's very sad.
So sad😢😢😢😢
Sure the guy screwed up by speeding, but the cop was too aggressive from the start. Issue the ticket and maybe have him call someone he knows to drive him and the truck home. The victim actually appeared more rational than the cop at the beginning.
FAFO
lol they don’t show the full video
FAFO, just comply with the officer and leave in peace, why make things complicated for no reason? This is what happens with most Blacks in USA and then FAKE MSM news (CNN, MSNBC, BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, NY TIMES) add the fuel on fire by bringing up Race for no reason.
this video doesn't show him choking the officer & that is why he got shot
This is what happens to US politics, too.
Shouldn’t have been so hostile, would probably still be here today… what an IDIOT imo
cop hangry he didn't get his free mcdonalds earlier. yea, dude was speeding but you lack professional demeanor StAFf sEaRgEaNt
wow
Who pulls over a dude for speeding and come out all fricken fired up and angry here in Australia we get pulled over politely told what happened and sent off wirh a ticket what is wrong with the cop for approaching the dude all fired up like that in the first place!!!
Deputy shoots man that violently attacked him? Goebbels does run msm?
What happened to him before may have been wrong but he created this situation.
How many people could have had their lives ruined by this 100mph weapon? Attack a cop like that you take a bullet, Tazer did nothing but pass him off. Meth? Flaka? Insanity?
98% of cops are pretty awful peaople in my experience
It's murder
Weak traffic unit officer was on a REAL POWER TRIP from the beginning lol got a good ass whoopin for that power trip and petty officer weakling had no choice but to grab a gun 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 guns down “angry tough guy”
Once again, defying unlawful orders by a police officer is sometimes punishable by death without a jury of one's peers.
Reform the police!
🐖
The flawed system sadly put this man in prison for a crime he didn't do, then they said "oops" and let him out after 16 years, then shortly after a cop with a bad attitude mishandled a traffic stop, then the cop tased the man out of anger, then the man finally "snapped" after all this injustice. The bad cop shot him when the man was on the ground and killed him for reasons called "fear". The end
To all of my fellow melanated people, this is what happens when you match an Officer's Approaching Hostile Energy…some accountability needs to be taken if you're pulled over…
Cop was 1000% in the wrong. He could haven polite, explained what was going on. Instead he shot the man. Damn.
Cop wanted his blood wings.. now he got them and everything that come with it… even that karma to be served up later…
Cops are killing us every day across the nation over misdemeanor traffic stops. They come out with guns drawn, tasers out and they always escalate the situation and use excessive force, which is a crime against humanity. Abolish qualified immunity, bc nobody is above the law!
