A “superfog” made of smoke from marsh fires and dense fog took over parts of Louisiana and caused at least two dozen traffic accidents Monday, including multi-car pileups involving over 100 cars on interstate highways, leaving two people dead and at least 30 injured, Axios New Orleans reported.
Several sections of Interstates 55 and 10 west of New Orleans were closed on Monday causing traffic congestions and delays, while the 24-mile-long causeway over Lake Pontchartrain near New Orleans was also closed at intervals. Nola.com, quoting officials of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, reported that the Causeway bridge was closed in both directions as dense fog made it “nearly impossible” for drivers to see and that road visibility was near zero in the area.

I have never understood where these conditions happen….why they don't have some sort if fog warning lights?????? Like bright purple or some colour that isn't normally used in traffic signals. Especially when there is white out conditions in the snow too…… shouldn't a bright neon flashing purple light cone on when there's multiple collisions? It should be linked to the Truckers. They see the most abd can report shit the quickest. Like a magic button they could turn on when they start to see white out conditions or a multiple vehicle pile up….. Ridiculous, I know…but, look at the alternative…..There should be no reason for thix to happen anymore with all of the automatic sensors we have. Built specifically to prevent these multiple collisions…..why isn't it working??????? Most of these cars should have automatically stopped. Going to look again and make sure of the year by the majority of cars….
Prayers go out to everyone and their family
It covers accidents not driving 70 in the fog 155 cars and seven dead insurance doesn’t cover that loss of life
😮h look how foggy it is .
Wow. And holy crap. Fog ahead, find a way to get off the road. I wonder how many fatalities there were. It looks HORRIFIC!
Never ever underestimate idiots on the road.
Criminal, what a waste all those vehicles totalled, all because people not paying attention to weather & road conditions, or forgot they are not invincable, must have been horrific for those trapped in their small cars.
People just going to fast for the conditions and not paying enough attention. Sad.
Hope everyone is okay.
On the west coast. Our fog is ultra dense. Used to leave my management unit around 3 am and the entire hour drive home was thru ultra dense fog, over capes etc.
Slow down, turn brights off as it illuminates the fog making it harder to see. Follow outside line and try to slowly keep moving.
All I see is a lot of natural selection at work. 😊
That's more visibility than we get in Wisconsin during a snow storm and we seem to be fine. Weird
To fast for conditions was the reason, not fog.
This is wy tail lights have to be green for driving and red for stoping this could have been avoidet ,how hard is it to under stand when you see green its moving and red thy have stopt,🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Its 50/50, the fog and people who cant drive slow in the fog is to blame. More like 60/40. Do people even study anymore tonget a drivers license?
Again..
The fog didn't cause this disaster.
Bad drivers did
Driving to fast for road conditions caused this

BEST ADVICE:
KEEP YOUR SPEED AFTER THE CONDITIONS .. ALWAYS THINK OF THE OTHER OUT IN THE TRAFFIC…
I THOUGHT IT WAS IN ITALY..there this happen often to…
Be carefully out in the traffic.. notice the weatherforcast..leave home in good time, and keep your distance into the other in the traffic..then it not can go totally wrong 🙂🙂👍👍👍
