War is awful, and the loss of civilian lives is awful. The one who's to blame for this is the one who started this war: Hamas.
Hamas made a gamble on Gazans' lives. It assumed that if it had shown such an initiative, the Arabs around and inside of Israel would rise up and join in. Barely anyone joined, and Hamas just put a huge pulsating target on itself and the civilians it's hiding behind.
And the world leaders have proven themselves to be gutless in enforcing international laws, the Israelis are literally committing war crimes and everybody is just letting them get away with it.
