Mr. Emerson, according to interviews with flight attendants, walked from the cockpit to the rear of the passenger compartment on his own, sat down and then requested that he be handcuffed.
There are a number of YouTube content creators that specialize in aviation news commenting on this incident.

As this incident seems to have resulted in a rather uneventful diversion to another airport and human factors were involved, details may be sketchy until all those directly involved are interviewed and cockpit recordings are reviewed.

The pilot, was a jump seat pilot. Which means if the plane went down, he wasn’t on there records as being there. If he shut down the engines, maybe the plane would glide for about 30 minutes or so that the voice recorders would be taped over before the plane went down in a crash. Even though he would have died, someone would have benefited from his life insurance policy. It happened on a fedEx flight years ago. So everything makes perfect sense.
