This rule limits the number of fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle for about 30 overs, favoring the batsmen. They can easily find gaps outside this circle and have the confidence to hit sixes more frequently.
Before November 2012, it was rare to see a team score more than 300 or 400 runs in an innings. Now, it's unusual for a team to score less than 300. This rule change has brought about a noticeable difference in the game. If cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, Jacques Kallis, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Adam Gilchrist, and Chris Gayle had played more matches after this rule change, they could have achieved even greater heights than they did before their retirements.
Sachin Tendulkar, often referred to as the "God of Cricket," showcased his brilliance countless times. However, it's not just the players but also this ICC rule change that might threaten his records. If the ICC had not altered this rule, the cricket landscape would likely be very different today. It's as if the current generation of students is achieving high scores, but they may not possess the same depth of knowledge as the older generation who had to work harder to succeed.
