Kusal Perera's away inning is better than Stokes' home inning.
The paradox of that innings is that if Maxwell doesn’t cramp – he doesn’t get 200.
The number of singles and twos that Pat Cummings doesn’t run because his partner can’t (and the number of balls he just blocked to see out an over) means that he ended up with only 12, not the 25/30 he could have had – which would have left Maxwell on 170/180. Still a remarkable score, but not the double ton that has tipped this innings into the iconic.
When you score 12 runs as a Captain in a 202 run partnership and win the match, consider it a lucky day😎👍
Afganistan just got crushed LAND DOWN UNDER !!!!!!
🇦🇺🏆🦘❤️👏🙏👍💪

Oye oye oye
What is this panel……zzzzz
Hi Espn …let me host the show to make it feel alive !
What a ridiculous match.. The hat trick that wasn't to be, the Labuschagne runout, Mitchell Starc's strange decision to not review.. Maxwell's dropped chance..There was emotion and confusion at both ends.. In the end it was the experience, belief and clarity of Maxi and Patty that got Aussies through an improbable win. Afghanistan is a highly talented side but they need to rein in their emotions and play as per the situation.
I respect Kapil a lot, but still I'll put this innings ahead, because of the situation, the run-chase pressure and the cramps that maxwell had. Hats off!
Personally it is the greatest white ball innings that I have ever witnessed.
I always rated Michal Bevan's 185* for the World XI as the best ODI innings ever played…until now.
Australia did win, but 110 for 7 says a lot about Australia batting! Against other teams, they would have done for less than 150.
This innings reminds you of that Kapil Dev innings doesn’t it? Cause it does for me.
Afghanistan thrash Australia as roles are miraculously switched…
Yes, friends, that should have been the headline I thought I would put up. But an inspired innings of pure masterclass from ‘bigshow’ Maxi, completely changed the entire scenario. From a potential ignominious trashing to one of the most breath-taking chases in the history of cricket. It just boggles your senses, What an incredible game this was for one team and what a heart-breaker it was for the other team.
I had earlier mentioned that Afghanistan had two huge mountains to surmount, Australia and South Africa. I had also mentioned that they had the capability of challenging them. But, I never believed that they could thrash Australia — a strong contender for the semi-finals – for two-thirds of the game and get soundly thrashed by them in the remaining crucial one-third to be hopelessly cast by the side lines. The match would have ended much earlier in favour of Afghanistan but for the lack of big match exposure. They began to get jittery as they inched closer to a famous victory.
Undoubtedly, it was out and out Maxi’s day. He had the luck of his life in the initial part of his knock. But all credit to Maxwell as he skilfully rode his luck and then dominated Afghanistan who were beginning to lose confidence and self belief. In the end, it turned out to be just a walk in the park for Australia. However, Afghanistan can hold their heads high.
Maxi’s 201 was worth more than its mere numerical value. It was a knock suffused with pain, endurance, courage, self-belief and, above all immense skill.
Greatest odi innings ever
Moral of the story: Its not a great idea to drop Glenn Maxwell
This inning will be remembered…maxi🙌🙌
This is the greatest ever innings in the history of all cricket matches in any format given the situation of the match and the greatest cause – Justice & Equality for Afghanistan Women (Australia cricket was committed for equality and Maxwell took it very seriously, rightfully so). I know that Maxwell knew in hindsight that it was against Religious, Mediaeval Patriarchal, Feudal & Idiots – Taliban Goons. Maxwell ! You are the best. Sports should be played for great reasons like this.
Maxi ❤🇦🇺
