An Irish-Israeli man was told that his daughter had died in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on an Israeli kibbutz, but now believes she is being held hostage in Gaza. He becomes emotional speaking out in hopes that she returns home soon.

I remember Thomas. I remember watching him literally shake with grief as he spoke of his relief at the news of the death of his daughter; relief because he knew she was not suffering in their captivity. It was at that moment that this man became a symbol, for me personally, of this whole tragic and evil situation; a way for my simple and very finite heart to latch onto and comprehend, in whatever small way I can, this evil that is ultimately too great for any finite heart to grasp. My heart went out to him, and through him to all the Israelis and Palestinians who have lost so much for no reason.
But, to now hear that she may in fact be alive after all… I don't use the word 'miracle' often, but this time…
I will pray (to a heart big enough to swallow up all evil) for this young girl's safety and return to her father, and for her father's heart no matter what the answer to our prayers turns out to be. I pray that his heart is strong enough to not be overtaken by the evil that is testing it. I pray that he's able to forgive and to continue bringing love into this all too heartless world. May God bless you, Thomas. I will watch for to in hope and love and faith.
