South Carolina being the first democratic primary is like California or New York being the first Republican primary.

Custom be damned, each Presidential Election just a handful of Primaries in the East-Mid West all but decide the national candidate and it needs to end since it panders to them more. Most that follow shouldn't be meaningless and candidates shouldn't be making the rounds or sitting at same lunch counters decade after decade of just those few States since every should be in play. New Hampshire should be barred by Law from being the first if others can't be held on the same day because its that ludicrous and if all Primaries were held in a few weeks not stung out. Filling to run often relies on getting enough signatures in for a Candidate regardless locally and the same should be true nationally and often is since its an archaic practice favoring the few. indeed the Electoral College should be changed on how its votes are totaled not by winner take all but proportionally as Kansas does since it by design it often lets those that didn't win the national popular vote become President. Most candidates rarely go to states that are reliably in their parties favor since the Electoral Vote does just that and if every State is in play politicians might pay more attention to them who's members of Congress and in the White House that ignore them until they run again.
