In the last nine presidential elections Oregon has been a blue state, leaving some concerned about the policies and feeling powerless. NBC’s Hallie Jackson spoke with residents about why they want to secede and join Idaho.

Or they could turn that land into a whole different state, call it Idahoregon.
Something tells me that they'd be happier being the most conservative folks in Oregon than being the most liberal folks in Oregon.

There are double the number of counties needed for adequate and efficient governance. Modern counties were defined by the needs of societies whose effective governance was determined by a reasonable circuit for mounted officials held to line-of-sight communication. Anachronism, sustained by taxation, and subject to the whims of locally elected representatives. Humbug.
Most of these outraged, conservative, we-want-to-secede movements take place in counties that are HUGE state welfare sucks. As in, if you look at cash flow of tax money, it comes FROM blue counties and gets handed out to red counties with economies that cannot support themselves.
Does Idaho even want to take on more welfare counties?

States borders change. Liberal and conservative parties need to be understanding that cultural identity is a big part of politics.
Hey, here’s an idea. Tired of living in Oregon? Pack your stuff in a UHaul, grab your spouse and kids and relocate to Idaho. It’s much simpler than trying to move a border (which isn’t happening). See ya later, don’t let the door hit you in the butt while you’re storming out.

Idaho can’t afford them. They are a welfare drag . The liberal west of Oregon subsidizes all of the infrastructure and services and schools for the Republican East. Republican Idaho would have to raise their taxes significantly to pay for a few new welfare citizens.
The government will never let it happen.

I have a better idea. Abolish oregon. Considering the shadiness of the state govt since its founding. We rename pdx. New Boston. The part of former Oregon that would like to secede can have that option or the option to stay. Deport liberals en masse to hawaii. I hear its nice right now they can handle 2.5 million special snowflakes and we can fix thr whole state. We xall it Cascadia. Not sure what Oregon means anyway. Make the old racists afraid to stay. Drive out the old problems. Fix it all. It speaks volumes how effed up oregon is that half the state wants out
