Would it help to consider why the Chinese want to take back Taiwan? Do they need chips, or is trade a factor? Can these things be worked out in a peaceful way so that China's needs are fulfilled without disrupting stability in the region? How can this be worked out so the people of Taiwan are able to maintain their autonomy? I'm no expert in this issue, just going by common sense and looking for the most prudent and peaceful path forward.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with the USA. Taiwan is a Chinese internal issue. The only reason the USA is sticking it's fat nose into it is because the US see's a war with China as an opportunity to get the international community to sanction China to death, and slow it's rise to Superpower status at which point the US has lost the cold war. Unfortunately China isn't playing ball and is playing the waiting game, which is p*ssing the US off.
