Felicity Huffman opens up on college admission scandal

“I felt like I would be a bad mother if I didn’t do it.”

Actress Felicity Huffman sat down with ABC News station KABC and reflected on the guilt she felt for paying a $15,000 bribe for a proctor to correct wrong answers and falsify the results on her daughter’s SAT test, which ultimately landed her in prison.

“It was sort of like my daughter’s future, which meant I had to break the law,” Huffman told KABC in an exclusive interview.

  1. Really your child was going to end up in the poorhouse if she didn't cheat with your help. Great acting 😢

  2. One word describes this woman's logic – "lame". Did she really expect to gather the sympathy of the rest of us "minions" with that explanation? She was a bad mother for trying to shield her daughter from pursuing her education like the rest of us, commitment and hard work!

  3. Hollywood thugs, thinking they're above the law because their offspring aren't strong students 😮😮😮

  4. Her poor daughter probably thought yes I did it I passed. Nope her grades were paid for

  5. Felicity, "I was in a huff, man ……."
    Hehe 😋

  6. "which meant I had to break the law'…
Her daughter's life was not in danger.

  7. She’s normalizing bribery.
    That’s what she’s doing.

  8. This millionaire really had the temerity to say that she broke the law to give her daughter a chance. Just go away!

  9. How sad that she didn't trust her daughter and thought so little of her. Accept your child for who she is.

  10. The e rich have doing this forever and are likely still doing it, she just got caught.

  11. Ridiculous. Her apology is empty. I get wanting to do anything for your kids, but not this. My kids have worked hard to get where they are thru college. My son is the smartest guy and he took the SATS on his own…and to take the GRE twice because the first time he was stressed because of a death in the family. My daughter is dyslexic and had to take the ACT twice. She’s also had to repeat classes and sat out for two years because it was difficult.

If I had connections to buy their test scores, or entrances into schools or buy grades … ITS NOT THE RIGHT THING TO DO. Don’t even think about the illegal part..what about morals and ethics ?

It’s tempting to make it easy but what happens when they need to actually go to class and do the work or get a job based on the degree they didn’t work for? I guess in Lala land they wouldn’t really work after college ? It’s all for show for appearances….RIDICULOUS AND UNFAIR

  12. Wow maybe your daughter should have studied and deserve her degree in the end.

  13. “She was going, ‘Can we get ice cream afterwards? I’m scared about the test. What can we do that’s fun?’” Huffman continued, recalling her daughter’s unknowing anxiety about the upcoming SAT.”

    I mean, wow.

This is what she’s citing as why she HAD to break the law to give her daughter an illegal leg up on everyone else in the process beyond the simple fact that she was from a fairly wealthy family that would happily buy their way past any stumbling blocks their (from her own admissions) extremely uninterested daughter would run into.

Best argument for a 90% inheritance tax on any amount over $5 million I’ve ever seen.

  14. The sins of the privileged. They still come off like they are the victims. Complete hypocrisy to their liberal idealism.

  15. This is nothing but a PR apology so that she can be on television again without us being revolted by the sight of her.

  16. So liberal media gonna give her a chance to cry on camera and lie her ass off.. 3 days of friggin jail time.. whatta joke

  17. Trust your gut, you KNEW it was wrong but you still did it. You ARE a bad mother by participating in lying and excusing it for a cause of helping your daughter. She lied for herself not her daughter. Delusional behavior. We aren't here to control our kids future, it's theirs to have , they are here to experience all the ups and downs that life throws at a human. The good, the bad, the ugly. We are here to help them when life happens. Not control the future.

  18. She set a fine example for her kid, and others. She earned the jail time…good job. You can’t explain your illegal actions away through love of your child. You taught her that it’s ok to cheat and lie as long as you don’t get caught. Well, too bad, you got caught. I would lay down my life defending my child, but sell my integrity this cheaply.

  19. Lies. Your daughter told us on camera that she just wanted to go there to party and have sex.

  20. Yet psychopathic warmongering criminals walk free.

  21. Many wealthy people do it! Nothing new and it won't change. At least she take the fault rather than the other actress and her daughter

  22. If she were poor shed still be in jail…..a real jail

  23. I like her as an actress, but I can’t help wondering, if she didn’t have $15,000 would she rob a bank for it for her daughters future? Everyone wants what’s best for their kids, but do they want it at another’s expense? If you have lots of money and resources, maybe you don’t think twice. Or maybe you don’t think twice about the kids whose parents don’t have $15,000 and have to work and study really hard to make it on their own steam. Also, hypothetically, if all she had to do was pay a fine (that she coul afford) what’s to keep her from doing it again..? I hope she learned something from the experience that will serve her, and her daughter.

  24. The thing is they cheated for their kids to get spots where others in not as good financial situation had to work for. She should not have fine to jail. Just paid a fine.

  25. This is so something her husband do on shameless

  26. Honestly she shouldn’t have gone to jail. Make her pay a big ass fine, do community service- and leave it at that. But jail? Why? That’s not necessary. I can’t stand the woman. But I still think jail is for real crimes— not something stupid like this.

  27. What a horrible person.

  28. Did she try to take away the votes of the American people? We should all declare ourselves President of the United States (just by thinking of it) and there would be no more jail time.
