The drunk and sleep people are a problem but they also make up less than 1% of Air Traffic Controllers. The real problem is staffing. 50,000 people applied for the last bid that was only picking up 1,500 people. So the interest is there. They need to expand the FAA ATC academy. Maybe have it in more than just one location like it is currently.

Simple. Fix the age mandate for FAA controllers. Make it 42 so seasoned flight dispatchers, pilots with medical and more military can be hired and qualify.
